Join the Brain Institute

We are always looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic researchers. If you are interested in joining us, we would love to hear from you.

Graduate Students

Prospective graduate students should contact Dr. Uri Maoz (maoz@chapman.edu) or Dr. Aaron Schurger (schurger@chapman.edu) .

Most Ph.D. students at the Brain Institute are enrolled in the Computational and Data Sciences (CADS) program or Mathematics, Philosophy and Physics (MPP) program at Chapman University.

Undergraduate Research Assistants

Research assistants are responsible for supporting research through tasks including journal review, experiment design, participant recruitment, data collection and data analysis. Chapman University students of all majors are welcome to apply. We especially encourage you to apply if:

  • You have a particular interest in the research that is being conducted at the Brain Institute.
  • You have a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • You are a current first-year, sophomore, or junior. We generally do not accept seniors, as we are looking to take on students with sufficient time left at Chapman to become meaningfully involved in the lab. However, we may make exceptions for particularly enthusiastic seniors who have a strong background in statistics and research methods.

If you are interested in becoming a research assistant (RA), please complete the application here. We will review all applications, and if any positions are currently open or become available in the future, we will reach out to you with next steps.

Paid Positions

Job postings for our open positions can be found here.

If you do not see any positions listed on the hiring portal but are still interested in joining the Brain Institute, we may consider you for a part-time research assistant position. For inquiries, please send us an email at brain@chapman.edu including your cover letter and CV.
